Barium hydroxide is added to the solution, and barium hydroxide and magnesium sulfate react to generate barium sulfate and magnesium hydroxide, both of which are precipitates. The filtrate is filtered to be sodium chloride solution. Dilute sulfuric acid is added dropwise to the precipitate, magnesium hydroxide reacts to generate magnesium sulfate, barium sulfate is insoluble in acid and does not react, filter again, and the rest in the filtrate is magnesium sulfate solution. The above is the first method, the second method is presented below. In the first step, sodium hydroxide solution is added, and MgSO4 and NaOH are reacted to obtain Na2SO4 and magnesium hydroxide. The precipitate of magnesium hydroxide is filtered off, leaving Na2SO4 and NaCl in the filtrate. In the second step, BaCl2 is added to the filtrate of the first step, Na2SO4 and BaCl2 react to generate NaCl and BaSO4, barium sulfate precipitate is filtered out, and only NaCl is left in the solution, thus obtaining sodium chloride. In the third step, dilute sulfuric acid is added to the Mg(OH)2 precipitate obtained in the first step, and MgSO4 and water are obtained by reaction, whereby magnesium sulfate is obtained again. At this point, sodium chloride and magnesium sulfate are separated.
